Northern Lights 2012 IIby *SindreAHN

My first shot of the Northern Lights this year was on the 9th of January

It was very weak but it had some pulsating activity and lasted for some 20 minutes

We found a spot close to "Skarrvatnet" a little water between "Festvåg" and "Mjelle"

The lights started with some high columns above the "Kjerringøy" Island. Then it moved from long lines with coulmns at the edges and some green / purple colours

It didn`t move that much around, just changed the level of activity around the line that appeared

Driving to "Mjelle" we started talking about one of Gaute`s old spots nearby, so we decided to go there, it was somewhere between "Festvåg" and "Mjelle".
We found a new spot !
We stopped the car close to a frozen water (at the lower part in this actual picture).

We run up to a top some 200 metres from our car which was parked down with the road, also to be seen at the picture, at the lower left part

On the top we had a great view ! We could see the "Kjerringøy" Island, "Steigtind" Peak, "Stortind" Peak, "Mjelletind" Peaks, we had a good 360* view !

There it was finnally ! We saw a weak line of Auroras, some collumns and nearby clouds.
The Northern Lights lit up the sky in the moonlight with some green and purple colours above the Kjerringøy Island

It was amazing to see a little show of auroras again ! The colours and lights, the movement and the pulsating dance up there !
It lasted for allmost 30 minutes it started at 21:43PM and was over at 22:08PM, after that it was just weak lines again.

The actual picture was shot with my Nikon D300s and Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 at F2.8, 13seconds and ISO 250

I don`t have that much to say

But as usual i will describe the story around the shoot and inform about its colours and activity
