Description

31/8-13, 01:14AM
Norway, Bodø

The place is named Hunstad and the fjord is Saltenfjorden ;) With the peaks, Børvasstindene to the left !

I was about going to bed when i decided to look one last time out at our porch up at the nightsky. I saw the signs of what a Aurora show may look like when it ignites ! So i rushed in had my new fullframe camera, the Nikon D700 and added the halfframe Tokina 11-16mm F2,8 to it. The Tokina works on 16mm, it covers 90-95% of the sensor. I have yet to buy the Nikkor 14-24mm f2,8 soon :D
With my gear assembled on our porch i started waiting for the show ! :) It was some weak clouds and the lines of light from the Aurora Borealis was not that strong at all. It was just some massive greens and long lines everywhere. So it was like the "aftershow" when it`s all calm and blurred.
After 10 minutes this was going to prove wrong :D Some weak rays began dancing around the sky being more vibrant and the light more intense ! It was like a bomb went off, the sky was filled with rays and light was everywhere ! Strong reflections in the sea and the white wall on our hose even had some reflections from the lights !
I started photographing like crazy ! Pointing my camera everywhere ! Still trying to think about where i had to cut the pictures in the processing because of what i described with the FX/DX thingy.

It lasted for 15 minutes being extremely massive and vibrant ! After thoose 15 intense minutes it was all quiet.. I was in amazed once again with this phenomen !

Have a nice weekend !
