23:04PM 9/9-2011 Shot in Norway in Tromsø, Local Hamna !

That little story of this picture :D Please read ;)

I`ve bin watching for activity of auroras on the sky !
Few clouds in the area, but sure i`m going to see something i kept on watching for them !
Chances where high ! The news had reported of a geo magnetic storm from a CME impact with solar winds on our magnetic field ! Set to KP 7, the news reported it at EXTREME + category ! :D
(I`ll be back with more details for what CME and KP is :D )

I went out again to look for it, and took some test pictures around to see if i could see any auroras. I saw some weak activity to the south of my position, so i`ve decided to stay out and look for the giant outbreak reported !

Out of nowhere as usual very common for auroras on a pitch black sky with stars and maybe the moon ! :D
The show was sparkling with full effect in no time !
I was there for 15 minutes shooting pictures everywhere on the sky ^^

As we had bin watching the show at one point for a long time, i thought that i should turn around and look up behind me !
There was a corona shape building up with lines and columns everywhere !
I was looking right into a Zenith again right above me !!! :D
The Zenith is a a outbreak point where lines and columns of auroras stretch from, a ``center explosion point `` where the geomagnetic activity is extremely high ! Where atoms and protons colide from the solar winds with our magnetic field up in the atmosphere creating this light !
It is called a ZENITH a tied point of auroras !

Others call it a corona because of it`s look and shape ;)
This is what i have learned from reading books of this phenomen :D

The picture !
I had planned to shoot with new settings for this evening !
Higher ISO and faster shutter speeds ! faster as in from 20-30 seconds down to 2 SECONDS !
With my new Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 this was going to be possible to doo !
So when i saw the Zenith i set the ISO to 1250 and shutter to 2 seconds and shoot !

I got this 25mb 14-bits RAW file ! And the white balance was at the automatic and i forgot the exposure bias, which was left at 0 it was suppose to be +5 ^^

What i have done to this picture is removing some city lights and flare from the street lights next too me. Also i have used neat-image for removing noise, as i got some of ! Noise and grain is some shit, literally shit ! Any suggestions of how to remove it ? I have bin using lightroom and PSCS4 too !
And allmost forgot to say that the colours are real ! ;)
The show was in mostly lit green and some blue / purple-ish mix :D !

More pictures of the Aurora Borealis / Northern Lights at my folder : [link] please have a look ;)

Have a great week every dA friends ! :D :D :D
